There are many small humanitarian non-government organisations (NGO’s) operating at the grass-roots level of communities throughout Asia. Whilst the big International Aid organisations and large NGO’s operate by sourcing corporate and Government funding and have a large media presence, there are many, many community humanitarian welfare projects which are run by local people for the benefit of local people especially those who are promoting and reviving traditional textiles.
Most of these projects do not receive funding or recognition for the work they do. By highlighting the work down by these smaller organisation its hoped that it can assist in developing sustainable funding them. Some of the organisations include:
