1. Comfort and security
We go that extra mile to ensure that your accommodation on tour is always central, quiet, spotlessly clean and secure. Your local tour guide and your Australian tour leader are on call 24 hours to make sure that everything runs smoothly. We don't skimp on comfort and convenience - as an example if we have an over night train trip we ensure you travel 1st class in 2 berth cabins (not cramped 4 berths) and that your hotel room is waiting for you when you arrive at your destination (so there's no sitting around until 2 pm check-ins- or spending a long day site seeing when all you want to do is get to your room).
2. Single travellers
With around 70% of our tour participants being solo travellers we cater for single travellers and you'll never be alone in a small group with other like minded travellers. Your local tour guide and Australian tour leader are there to help you out every step of the way. From deciphering menu's, to using ATM's, calling home or bargaining for that special textile - help is on hand. We can help you out with everything from booking your flights to organising insurance.
3. Value for money
We believe an unforgettable travel experience doesn’t have to break the bank. We continually strive to offer the most competitive prices around and ensure that your tour price includes all of your entrance, workshops fees, local transport and a number of meals. Those travelling with us for the first time are often surprised by the great hotels we stay in for the price of our tours. Yes our tours are more expensive than "cookie cutter" tours - but we provide you with a unique experience and take you to unique locations - rather than a site seeing coach tour that packs 15 to 40 on each tour.
4 . Small Groups
We limit our small group tours to ensure that we can tip toe into communities without impacting on the local environment or the local community. On average there are about 7 or 8 travellers on one of our small group tours — but the maximum is NEVER more than 10 people. Our small groups give us the flexibility to mingle with the locals and take lost of hands-on workshops and classes. And with only a small number on each tour you don't waste time waiting about for everyone else!
5. Expert Local Support
We don't skimp on costs to save us money - we work hand in hand with some of the best travel companies in the destinations we travel to - this ensures that everything runs smoothly and your every need is catered for. We work mostly work with MTA's invitation only Virtuoso Travel Network, the most exclusive travel group in the world comprising 300 of the world’s finest agencies.
6. Hands on workshops
With our knowledge of the local communities we visit we are able to provide you with truly unique hands on experiences, from learning embroidery from the local tribal ladies to shibori, natural dyes, beading, batik, jewellery making and weaving classes. Hands-on workshops are not just available on our small group tours - but if you want to travel independently we can also arrange a host of fun and interactive hands-on classes for you.
7. Real experiences
We encourage you to step off the beaten path, embrace the unexpected and immerse yourself in the lives and communities that you visit (without sacrificing comfort). With only small groups we get to experience the culture and get to know the locals. And with only small groups we can choose to stay in smaller boutique accommodation without the hordes of coach tourist. On some of our tours we get to stay with local families in home-stay accommodation which really gives you the feel of a destination.
8. Get to know the locals
Whether it be sitting around having a cuppa or spending time with the local ladies having a laugh as you try your hand at their traditional crafts - the emphasis is on getting to know how communities tick. We steer away from tourist workshops and factories - that way we know our money stays in the hands of the local artisans.
9. Departure Security
Unlike many of the large tour companies all of our small group tours will depart if we reach a minimum of 4 bookings. (Note if there is less than 6 people you will be accompanied by experienced local in-country support staff and guides). We even depart with as little as 3 on some tours.
10. Flexibility& Independence
All of our tours provide you with a great mix of sightseeing, hands-on lessons and cultural experiences with the locals but we also ensure that there is plenty of time for you to go off on your own to explore.
