Visa Information

Picture
Visa conditions change regularly. Contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate for the most up to date information.  THE INFORMATION ON THIS PAGE WAS CORRECT AT THE TIME OF PUBLISHING HOWEVER YOU MUST CHECK ON UP TO DATE INFORMATION BEFORE YOU UNDERTAKE ANY TRAVEL TO THESE COUNTRIES.

The visa requirements for your trip vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.  It is important that you check for yourself. There's nothing worse than arriving at an airport and not being allowed into the country.

LAOS VISA

A passport and visa are required. At the time of writing Visas are issued upon arrival in Laos to foreign tourists and business persons at most border crossings. Passport must have at least six months validity remaining, and one blank visa page in order for the visa to be issued.  A Laos TOURIST visa is usually issued for a SINGLE entry within three months from the date of issue for a period of stay not to exceed 30 days. The visa may be extended in Laos for a further 15 days. You will need two passport size photographs and $30 at Wattay Airport, Vientiane; Friendship Bridge, Vientiane; and Luang Prabang Airport. Visas on Arrival are not available at the Chong Mek border crossing.

Foreign tourists are generally admitted to Laos for 15 days with a visa on arrival or for 30 days with a visa issued at a Lao embassy. Foreigners who overstay in Laos risk arrest, and they will be fined $5 for each day upon departure. Travellers should make sure that they complete immigration and customs formalities when they enter Laos. Travellers who enter Laos without completing these formalities may be subject to fine, detention, imprisonment, and/or deportation.
We strongly recommend that you check directly with the embassy prior to travel to check on up to date Visa information.

CAMBODIA VISA
Tourist and business visa’s are available on entry for $30US. The Cambodian government has introduced an electronic tourist visa ("e-Visa") facility. If entering Cambodia through Phnom Penh or Siem Reap international airports an application for a tourist visa can be made on-line through the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs'website. The cost is $30US for the eVisa and a $7US application fee. The turnaround appears to be within 2 to 3 days and speeds up the immigration process when arriving in the country. Your passport must have at least four months validity remaining when you arrive in Cambodia; however, all neighbouring countries (Thailand, Vietnam and Laos) require passports to have at least six months validity. Local immigration authorities may deny entry and deport people who do not meet this requirement, even if they intend staying only for a short period.
We strongly recommend that you check directly with the embassy prior to travel to check on up to date Visa information.

VIETNAM VISA
You MUST obtain a visa prior to arrival in Vietnam. Persons attempting to enter Vietnam without a valid visa are generally sent back to their last port of departure by Vietnamese authorities. You should review all visa conditions and carefully note any conditions listed on the immigration stamp which you will receive on arrival. Your passport must have at least six months remaining validity at the time of arrival in Vietnam. If you lose your passport which contains your visa for Vietnam or the visa document issued by Vietnamese authorities, you will need to obtain an exit visa from a Vietnamese immigration office. Vietnamese authorities will not permit you to depart Vietnam until the exit visa is issued. Processing may take up to 4 working days and a fee is payable.

There is a Visa on Arrival facility but this is ONLY provided with PRIOR approval before leaving Australia.  This service provides you with a letter of pre-approval for a visa when you arrive - you must still however apply for and pay for your visa when you arrive in the country.  This is a cheaper option that a visa obtained before leaving Australia - however be aware that it may take you up to one and a half hours to obtain this visa and you must still then line up and go through immigration procedures.
We strongly recommend that you check directly with the embassy prior to travel to check on up to date Visa information.
