Hanoi-Sapa-Bac Ha-HaGiang- Meo Vac- Bac Be - Hanoi
From $4,390 AUD per person twin share
We are excited to bring you a new itinerary following in the same style as our Textile Trails and Ethnic Villages tour of North-Western Vietnam that we have been running for the last couple of years. Escorted by Narelle and our fantastic local guide Thao join this fantastic adventure into some of the most beautiful and remote areas of North Eastern Vietnam.
This tour is not your regular tourist itinerary but takes you off the tourist trail into the remote mountain areas of North-east Vietnam along the Chinese border region. No one tour is ever the same in the remote areas and each time we travel we generally meet up to 25 different clans of the minority group hill-tribe communities all with completely different costumes and cultures. Just some of the groups we hope to see on this trip include the colourful Flower, Blue, Black and White Hmong; different clans of the Black and Red Dao with their amazing embroidered clothing, along with the Coin Dao and the Ao Dai Dao, and others including the HaNhi, PuLa, Nung, Tay, Giay, Flower and Black Lo Lo and the SanChi.
We are excited to bring you a new itinerary following in the same style as our Textile Trails and Ethnic Villages tour of North-Western Vietnam that we have been running for the last couple of years.
Starting our first night in Hanoi's Old Quarter, we make a visit to the fascinating Ethnology Museum for a glimpse of the unique and colourful textiles and cultures we will visit over the next 12 days on the road. We leave the city and travel north to Sapa where we spend time learning about the intricacies of the Red Dao embroidery with a group of local ladies and visit the remote Muong Hum ethnic market.
From Sapa town we travel deep into the mountains of the North East. We visit the colourful Flower Hmong market at Coc Ly and explore the area where we will find Nung, Hmong and Tay villages. From here we head further into the remote mountains through some of the most spectacular scenery in Vietnam. We will stop in at local markets including the colourful Sunday market at Meo Vac which is said to be the most spectacular of all the hill tribe markets with dozens of different groups all dressed in their traditional costumes converging on the market to trade and socialise each week.
Along the way we will stop in and visit a variety of ethnic minority hill tribes including the colourful black and flower Lo Lo, several different Dao clans, including the Sewing, Black, Red, Long dress and Coin Dao, the PhuLa, Tay and the White, Blue, Black and Flower Hmong, the SanChi, Han, LaChi and PuPeo. We end our time in the mountains with a visit to the Ba Be Lake and head down the highway back to Hanoi stopping at the Thai Nguyen Ethnic Minority Peoples' Museum on our way.
For those wanting to explore Hanoi there's the option to add on a 1 or 2 night stay at the beginning or end of the tour.
