We are excited to bring you a brand new itinerary following in the same style as our Textile Trails and Ethnic Villages tour of North-Western Vietnam that we have been running for the last couple of years.

Starting in the amazing 1000 year old shopping precinct of Hanoi's Old Quarter, we make a visit to the fascinating Ethnology Museum for a glimpse of the unique and colourful textiles and cultures we will visit over the next 12 days on the road.
We leave the city and travel north to Sapa where we spend time learning about the intricacies of the Red Dao embroidery with a group of local ladies and visit the remote Muong Hum ethnic market.

From Sapa town we travel deep into the mountains of the North East.  We visit the colourful Flower Hmong market at Coc Ly and explore the area where we will find Nung, Hmong and Tay villages.  From here we head further into the remote mountains through some of the most spectacular scenery in Vietnam.  We will stop in at local markets including the colourful Sunday market at Meo Vac which is said to be the most spectacular of all the hill tribe markets with dozens of different groups all dressed in their traditional costumes converging on the market to trade and socialise each week.

Along the way we will stop in and visit a huge variety of ethnic minority hill tribes including the colourful black and flower Lo Lo, several different Dao clans, including the Sewing, Black, Red, Long dress and Coin Dao, the PhuLa, Tay and the White, Blue, Black and Flower Hmong, the SanChi, Han, LaChi and PuPeo.   We end our time in the mountains with a visit to the Ba Be Lake and head down the highway back to Hanoi stopping at the
Thai Nguyen Ethnic Minority Peoples' Museum on our way.

For
those wanting to explore Hanoi there's the option to add on a 1 or 2 night stay at the beginning or end of the tour.

Is this tour for me ?
The tour will be of interest to anyone who enjoys experiencing life outside the tourist sites, meeting the locals, seeing how they live and seeing the different tribal costumes and textiles.  This tour is also great for those into photography.
