Textiles & Craft

The myriad of textiles found in the regions of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam is heaven for fabric and craft enthusiasts. The textiles produced include; silk, cotton,lace, embroidery and applique. many of the techniques, colours and symbols used to create textiles stem from the large number of ethnic minority groups throughout the area.  The quality of the textiles produced depend largely on the techniques used, the skill of the creator and the intricacy of the design.

Hand weaving techniques are still the norm in Cambodia and Laos whilst the textiles produced in Thailand and Vietnam are now produced on mechanical looms.  Materials used to create textiles across the region include, silk, cotton and hemp.
