DAY 1 : PHNOM PENH
Today is arrival day. We will collect you from the airport when you arrive. The day is free to explore. There's a get together meeting tonight to meet your travel companions and go over the itinerary for the tour.
DAY 2: PHNOM PENH
We spend the day exploring the exciting river city of Phnom Penh. Starting at the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda complex, we learn about the Royal colours of Cambodia before we move on to the National Museum where we can see how textiles have been recorded in ancient sculptures and artefacts. This afternoon we visit the sobering site of the Killing Fields and end our day join the locals at Wat Phnom.
DAY 3: PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAP
We explore the city markets and textile shops for silks and fabrics before flying north to Siem Reap, the gateway to the Temples of Angkor.
DAY 4: SIEM REAP
See how textiles were used back in the days of Angkor when you explore the ruins and spectacular carvings of the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants and Leper King, Ta Prohm Temple and the amazing Angkor Wat.
DAY 5: SIEM REAP
We make a visit to Institute for Khmer Traditional Textiles [IKTT], a unique forest project established to revive ancient traditional natural dyes and weaving techniques before making a visit to the beautiful 'women's' temple of Bantaey Srie. This afternoon we visit the visit the Artisans d’Angkor silk farm and weaving centre and drop in to visit the Mekong Quits outlet.
DAY 6: SIEM REAP
A highlight of our time in Siem Reap is a visit a unique water hyacinth weaving project on the lake where we take a hands-on class with the local ladies on our floating class room. We get together tonight for a Khmer feast.
DAY 7: SIEM REAP
There's lots of free time today to bargain at the Old Markets for silks, catch up on last minute shopping, or maybe take a cooking class, a pottery class or simply relax by the pool.
DAY 8: SIEM REAP
Your tour comes to an end today after you transfer to the airport.
